Kingston District Council is located just 300km from Adelaide in the picturesque Limestone Coast Region. The region is as diverse as it is beautiful with a mixture of farming, fishing (including lobster), wine regions, coastal pursuits and activities, safe beaches and extensive national parks including the world recognised Coorong.

Kingston is recognised as a popular Limestone Coast tourist and lifestyle destination. The main streets, parks and beaches are abuzz with locals and holiday makers, all enjoying our beautiful environment, cafes, restaurants and local produce. Home-grown businesses and primary producers are thriving and the district is well known for its family friendly atmosphere. The community share a sense of pride and common purpose.

Significant progress has been made both within Council as an organisation and across the Council Region in the past 5 years but there is still more to be done. Kingston District Council owns and operates the Kingston Foreshore Caravan Park, has an RV Park on the foreshore and has major plans in place to upgrade the Main Streets and strategies in place to further enhance tourism in the region. Council also has a vested interest in the Cape Jaffa Anchorage Marina Development is working with the developer in the ongoing maintenance and promotion of this facility.
About the Role
Working collaboratively with the Mayor, Elected Council and the Council Team, the CEO will ensure the that the Elected Council's strategic and operational initiatives are implemented efficiently and effectively. As a leader, the CEO will grow, develop, support and mentor the people who work for Council. The CEO will also ensure the wider community is aware of and understands Council's broader strategic objectives.
Your naturally collaborative and consultative nature will see you promote Council to the community and foster pride in the region.
As the CEO you will lead by example, taking all stakeholders "on the evolution journey", possess strong business acumen, have proven strategic planning skills, an ability to build relationships and influence and focus your team on what is important. As the head of Council Administration, you will have the capacity to translate Council's vision into practical and achievable goals.
In your career to date you will have demonstrated leadership ability, be financially astute, commercially savvy and be equally comfortable working both strategically and "hands on". You will be a clear communicator and have a genuineness that enables you to interact at all levels within Council and the local community.
What Success looks Like
Success in this role requires more than technical knowledge and relevant experience. To be truly successful in this role the new CEO needs to understand the issues and influencing factors that face the Community living within the Kingston District Council. For this reason, it is expected that the successful candidate will reside locally and be an active member of the Kingston District Community.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a collaborative leader to work with the local community to deliver projects and outcomes that make a real difference to the Community. While it is vital to get the day to day business of Council right, you will be supported by an outstanding leadership and broader Council team. The key function of the CEO is to support the expertise of these leaders and their organisation wide teams with the demands of regional, state and national engagement and to deliver outcomes which benefit the Kingston Region.
Experience and achievement in Local Government, the management of coastal landscapes and / or regional road networks as well as grant identification and application knowledge would be highly regarded. Your ability to manage and deliver on multiple priorities is essential to your success in this role.
